Defining depression as a medical & clinical term involves defining it from normalcy by correctly identifying signs and symptoms of depression, and differentiating it from other mental conditions. Depressive disorders can be traced back to the beginning of mankind, various forms of depression have been portrayed in literature and arts and even Hippocrates referred to depression as melancholia in his works.
